Located on Rathdowne Street in Carlton North is Beer Heaven. There are 16 different local and international brews on tap including Feral White and Feral Hop Hog IPA, both award-winning Australian microbrews. Some international beers on tap are Leffe Blonde and Trumer Pilsner and there are many more names available in bottles. This place really does have one of the best selections of beer I have seen in Melbourne.
But it's not all about the beer and the bar here; it also about the beer and the kitchen. The focus for the menu is on wholesome and affordable pub meals with a pleasant twist. Beer creeps its way onto the plate with a mouth-watering stout and organic beef pie, beer battered whiting and fries, and beer, pork and veal bangers and mash with veg. If you're a vegetables-only kind of person you have a number of options throughout the entire menu, not just fries and a boring green salad. Mains range from $16 to $32 and there are special prices at the beginning of the week, so check out the web site for further details.
Try this place. It's well worth it.
