A formidable reputation among live musicians, good pub food and a great selection of local beers has cemented The Cornish Arms as a bona fide Melbourne community icon.

Editorial

Built in late 1886 and extensively renovated to accommodate live bands in 2000, The Cornish Arms is located on busy Sydney Road in the sprawling Northern suburb of Brunswick - an area itself famous for its rich multiculturalism.

The peak creative time for Brunswick is mid March during the world famous Brunswick Music Festival where great chunks of Sydney Road are given over to the celebration of roots, folk and world music. But that's certainly not the only time to enjoy live music and The Cornish Arms has made a feature of live acts 7 days a week. Saturday is Band Night with Sunday's given over to acoustic acts, $12 Parma Feast's and hordes of Uni students. Open Mic on Mondays and midweek comedy Trivia round off entertainment options at The Cornish. Wednesdays is also Steak Night with a great $12 deal on the Porterhouse, cooked any way you like it.

During the warmer months the casual Cornish Arms courtyard comes into its own with local artists mingling with young professionals over serious beer sessions, drawn from no less than 10 local brews on tap. And during Melbourne's infamous winter chill, Cornish patrons take over the huge inside communal tables or huddle around the impressive L-shaped bar.

The Cornish Arms also boasts stylish upstairs function rooms catering to groups of between 50 and 150 for that special occasion. The hotel is open Monday to Tuesdays from 2pm - 1am, Wednesday to Saturday from Midday to 1am and Sunday from 2pm to 11pm.
