The Comedy Theatre
Editorial
Even the fact that when built in 1928, they decided to create a replica of a Florentine palace on the outside, whilst on the inside they went with a distinctly Spanish style hoping for an overall 'European' vibe, is pretty funny. And we've been laughing ever since!
Seating up to 1000 patrons means despite its comedic theme, performing at the Comedy Theatre is serious business, Whether or not the existence of a Comedy Theatre in Melbourne has anything to do with the mega International Comedy Festival being held in the city each April, we don't know - but it seems like a good fit.
While there's no doubting the Comedy Theatre could use some love of the renovation kind, it still manages to pack the punters in and if you're a comedian who lands a gig there, then yes, relax, 'cos you've made it to the big time.
