Terminus Hotel

Before daggy was cool and retro was so hot right now, the Terminus was quietly doing its shabby chic thing way before it became the 'look'.

Editorial

Think quirky paintings, kooky mementos and assorted adornments from the '60s and '70s, a bright blue pool table and creaky old couches, which combine together to create an eccentric weird maiden Aunt atmosphere.

Located in Abbotsford, this was the meeting place for those from all over the inner-North, but reports in 2009 were that the pub had lost its friendly vibe. Thankfully, new owners Tim and Natalie who took over the reins of the pub in 2010, are making a concerted effort to restore Terminus and bring back it's artsy, all are welcome, former glory.

Entertainment wise, it all happens in the undercover beer garden, which is heated in Winter. Here you'll find funk, alternative, indie and rock bands and DJs playing during the week.

Weekdays they provide great kooky entertainment - trivia on Tuesday, bingo on Wednesday nights, and Oz Blotto on Friday - which is a twisted modern day take on the good old fashioned chook raffle.

There are 10 tap beers and the emphasis is on tasty brews from Victorian microbreweries (such as Red Hill Brewery and Hargreaves Hill). Food wise, the Terminus keeps it classy and classic with huge portions of parma ($17) and fish and beer battered chips ($19).

Sounds like the perfect home away from home.
