The Coffee Shop
Editorial
Lacking a hot air balloon, there are two ways to get an aerial view of the city of Hobart - a wedge tailed eagle's view from the top of Mount Wellington or a sea eagle's view from this, Wrest Point Casino's premier restaurant and the city's plushest, most sophisticated dining venue atop the Casino tower. The advantage of the latter is that you get a continuous 360 degree vista without moving. As you sit and sip your Campari or Bollinger, consulting the menu, the restaurant moves for you. And, if you're a romantic tete-a-tete twosome, you can be sure it's moved for your partner too - so that's comforting.
Comforting too is the menu, featuring such specialties as chateaubriand and prawns and steak Diane flambed at your table. Fashionably unfashionable such dishes might be, but good food is always good food and you'll travel a long way before you'll find better prepared examples of such classics. And there are plenty of other more modern or mainstream dishes to choose from, enough to suit every taste and budget, be it high-rollers enjoying a win on the tables downstairs, celebrating couples, or out-for-the-night-special-occasionists. Whichever, you'll enjoy one of the state's best and most extensive wine lists and find further comfort in the waiting staff's effortlessly smooth and attentive service.
