ONYX Bar
Editorial
Browns, greens and white make for a tranquil colour palette with a very large curved brown leather banquette taking centre stage. However, it is the spectacular views over the Derwent River that keeps them coming back.
The large windows overlooking the water bring in plenty of light that sets off the elegant simplicity of this bar. Although plasma screens are dotted around the venue, clever placement means they are thankfully not a feature.
There are half a dozen beers on tap, including Pure Blonde, Cascade, and even Carlton Draught for those wanting to save their pennies for the pokies. For those after something a little more exciting, there's a dangerous cocktail list. Try the Ruby Punch: Bacardi Oro, Bacardi Black, apricot brandy, shaken with ruby grapefruit, cranberry juice and orange juice and served long over ice.
Loose Tie Fridays sees a dollar off all drinks from 5.30pm till 6.30pm. For those after a light snack there's a selection of tapas and antipasto.
Onyx attracts locals and tourists alike, which is always a sign a bar is doing something right.
