Telegraph Hotel

The Telegraph sends a clear message on grown-up drinking: European beers tapped up on a bar adorned with tiny shiny tiles, and a relaxed but clean atmosphere.

Editorial

Aimed at students and a younger crowd, the Telegraph Hotel melds a classic, art deco frontage with a contemporary fit-out. While the venue retains pub staples - a long bar and Guinness on tap - it's complimented with a mix of stainless steel trim, dynamic lighting and designer furniture. This fusion of old and new is carried over into the drink selection. There are several varieties of beer available on tap and an assortment of imports behind the bar. If you fancy something a little stronger, there's a full cocktail menu on hand and the staff actually know their drinks - not always the case when it comes to pubs moonlighting with cocktails.

The pool tables are aimed at the student crowd and you'll find everything from future engineers to arts students milling about during the day. The reasonably priced pub meals help a lot in that regard. Depending on what day it is, evenings see DJs playing Top 40 tracks or a live band playing covers of top 40 tracks. And while it's obviously aimed at a younger demographic, the Telegraph Hotel is a welcoming and laidback venue. You'll find suits milling about at lunchtime alongside students, and the place epitomises the 'come as you are' attitude espoused by a certain grunge band.
