Criterion Street Cafe
Editorial
There's always a good selection of cakes and biscuits to enjoy while reading the newspapers and a blackboard displays the daily specials. These are often comprised variously of simple bruschettas and salads, heart-warming soups (like cream of parsnip) to wintry braises, egg and bacon pie and Asian-accented stir-fries. Servings are generous, there's a small, well-priced wine list to help things go down and the service is casual and… well, casual.

The food is delicious, the coffee's the best in Hobart, and the service is relaxed and friendly. Drop in for a tasty breakfast and coffee or grab some hearty lunch. The menu reflects the great locally sourced seasonal produce. You can expect hearty winter stews with delicious aioli, tasty bruschetta, yummy pies and a selection of indulgent home made treats. One cafe where within a few visits you're a regular, right down to knowing your desired coffee preferences and seating arrangements.
