Thebarton Theatre
Editorial
Try saying that tongue twister ten times over after ten schooners! Anyhow, the Thebbie is beloved by bands and audience alike for its intimate 2000 capacity, so you feel like you're actually at a concert, as opposed to seeing your favourite band in a bland humourless barn, where you often get a better concert experience by watching your favourite rock God on YouTube.
Not so at this iconic theatre that was built in 1926 and has been a central fixture on the Adelaide entertainment scene ever since. The Thebbie is high on atmosphere and theatrics, with its beautiful proscenium arched roof and amazing acoustics. Hence why acts as diverse as Nirvana, Kylie Minogue, The Kinks, Dora the Explorer, Nirvana, Adam Hills, Elvis Costello, Bloc Party, INXS, Tim Minchin and Bill Bailey have all performed or are about to perform here.
For an extra intimate experience, bag yourself seats in the Dress Circle boasting luxurious armchairs with room for two people. Now that's intimate.
