The Highway
Editorial
The Highway, in Plympton, offers the ideal drinking experience for those wanting a nice, designer aesthetic to go with their boutique beer. While some boutique pubs tend to come with a 'my way or the highway' (pardon the pun) attitude, there are no noses in the air here. With the addition of a sports bar, gaming lounge and bottle shop, this pub has become a stylish affair that still caters to most alcoholic needs.
The Lounge bar is quite an easy-on-the-eye environment, with low furniture, polished cement floors and a very swank, designer bar. Bar staff serve all manner of drinks, but things tend to be more on the mixed spirits and cocktails side of things here. If you're after something a little more casual, try the Sports Bar. While not as rough as some other bars in the area, the feel here is more in line with your commonly held sporting vibe. Beers dispensed are the usuals; Carlton Draught, Coopers, Cascade and more, plus a large range of bottled varieties.
Outside, the deck makes a popular choice for a Sunday arvo session, as well as a social way to take in a game, thanks to the massive, outdoor TV screen. Full meals and snacks can also be had outside, so there's no need to get formal and take a sit-down meal if you're not keen.
