Named after Adelaide's famous brewery, The Lion Hotel has a heritage call card dating back to the 1870's.

Editorial

Of course this Northern suburb landmark is more than an old pub. Redevelopment in the in the 80's and new management have delivered an award-winning restaurant and bar featuring popular entertainment seven nights a week. And lapping this all up is a loyal patronage of locals and interstate visitors such is the reputation of The Lion.

The live music line up at this North Adelaide hub rolls out six nights a week ranging from soul driven acoustic session on Monday with Brian Ruiz Troy to the big band vibe of Adelaide's three piece phenomenon, The Clearway on Thursdays. Jazz and Gospel Blues gets the retro Hammond organ treatment on Tuesdays with the Deane Jesse Freeman Trio and Wednesdays at The Lion goes off with the eclectic party tunes of The Pill.

The party revs up a notch on Friday as local DJ's work The Lion decks and Saturday the bands are back covering familiar rock and pop tunes. On Sunday the vibe is distinctly layback as live bands and DJs deliver familiar and chill-out tunes.

The highly regarded Lion restaurant cooks up a range of dishes ranging from the more formal dinning experience through to the casual and the taste buds won't be disappointed. Naturally there's a fine selection of wines and other beverages as you'd expect from a hotel in the heart of Adelaide's former brewing district.
