The Caledonian Hotel
Editorial
While the external facade is little bit peculiar (it brings to mind something from the gold rush days), step inside and you'll find dark-stained timber floors, grey feature walls and stainless steel highlights. While the modern decor is in stark contrast to the parklands outside, the juxtaposition works well. Meanwhile, the indoor/outdoor beer garden offers a closing roof, open fireplace and ample seating. If you're looking for something a little more upmarket the five-star restaurant has a relaxed ambiance and a contemporary Australian menu. It was judged Best Restaurant - Superior (SA) at the Australian Hotel Awards in 2005.
The drink selection at the Caledonian Hotel covers all bases and has a great selection of locally produced wines. When you take into account their international varietals the cellar is pushing over 500 different drops. If you prefer your drinks amber coloured there's a good mix of beer available on tap and a modest cocktail selection. Whether your looking for a casual drink in the beer garden or a more formal dinner, this Adelaide hotel provides great service and atmosphere.
