The Tap Inn
Editorial
There aren't many bars you can name that feature a golf driving range as one of their drawing cards. And sure, it might seem like a bit of a gimmick, but the Tap Inn is more a club than a simple bar. Spread across three levels, there's sport on big screens, a host of pool tables, restaurants and more bars than you could ever hope to find. And good luck once you hit the indoor driving range after a few beers.
Mulligan's Bar is where most of the action (read: bragging about handicaps) happens, with the large range of tap beers and ciders keeping golf fans socially lubricated. Naturally, there are enough dining choices to cater to any hunger, from full meals and hot pots in Birdies Restaurant, to toasted sandwiches and wedges in the gaming lounge. Wine is also dispensed with pride, with the hefty list covering many varietals from Australia, New Zealand and Europe. All are available by the glass, with prices starting around the $5 mark.
Of course, the indoor driving range is a drawcard, but the main bar at the Tap also makes for a decent meeting place. The ornately carved wooden fixtures lend the entire bar a sense of charm - even offsetting any stigma surrounding the gaming room. And if it's fresh air you're after, the beer garden, complete with its own water wheel (naturally!), offers an alfresco experience hard to beat.

What a fantastic experience. The Tap Inn is much more than a pub. I've now been there for a cheeky pint on a Saturday night and as a wedge between a wedding and reception. There is plenty to explore so make sure you wander around. The driving range inside the pub is good fun. This is a unique Adelaide experience, something you won't find anywhere else. I'll be back soon to complete my lap of the taps!
