It is really all about the music at the Gov and you know it when see the hotted-up Nexus sound system sitting on a generous low rise curved stage, which gives the venue its intimate feel, but it's also high enough that you can stand in the beer garden and still see the bands like Wolfmother, Gomez and Magic Dirt do their thing.
In the front bar it's more of a mellow vibe, with the Adelaide Ukulele Appreciation Society meetings on Tuesdays, Open Mic Sessions on Wednesdays, Irish Jam Sessions on Fridays and live local bands on Thursdays and Saturdays. John Butler's also been known to play here.
And don't forget to check out the Rob's bar named after the editor of Adelaide's street press mag Rip It Up, who is apparently so legendary, he's even had a bar named after him. Respect!
