German Arms Hotel
Editorial
One could not find a more fitting location for a German-themed pub than Adelaide's own Hahndorf. Drop by anytime of the year and you'll find this part of the Adelaide Hills filled with German tourists wining and dining in true Deutsch fashion. And right at the centre of the action is the German Arms Hotel. Popular for a spot of people watching (be early on weekends for a table out front), or a cold, German beer, this hotel has been the focal point for the area's action for many years.
Despite the name, you're not going to find a hotel sporting walls adorned with Mauser rifles or Walther pistols (ironically, James Bond's weapon of choice for many years). What you will find is a typically German interior, with accents firmly placed on wood, wood and more wood, and an old-style sense of hospitality.
And if you happen to hit town during Oktoberfest, well, we'll leave that up to your imagination. And although you may have to push your way past the odd tourist rabble to get to the bar, there's nothing like a cold Schofferhofer Kristallweizen to bring on another verse of the German anthem.
