Zubar
Editorial
A relatively new addition to the much-loved Hackney Hotel, Zubar is a welcome sporting haven and bistro delight. Spanking new plasma screens have been installed for all your sporting pleasure, meaning you don't have to squint at small cathode ray dinosaurs anymore. Gaming fans also have the option to place a bet at the in-house facilities, or maybe just throw some money at a slot machine.
On tap, Zubar sport James Squire Amber Ale, Carlton Draught, Pure Blonde and more. There is a cocktail list, but it's more of beer drinker's bar, if you catch our drift. Spirits are the usual first pours, and there are a few pre-mixed drinks as well. The bistro menu is also a grand affair, with pub favourites like beef burgers, chicken schnitzel, roast of the day, fish'n'chips and more.
Entertainment wise, the decor is probably enough to keep you amused. Think: old hunting lodge meets designer furniture store, and you're on the right track. The heritage facade runs into the walls, receding only to make way for moulded furniture, leather sofas and colonial-style table lamps.
