You have to wonder about restaurants that are located on tourist strips, particularly beachside tourist strips like Jetty Road. These areas are often good for fish and chips and family style chain affairs and it would take a brave restaurateur to venture outside of this norm. Fortunately some do and we collectively thank them for it. If you are promenading Jetty Road and want to avoid the tourism fuelled detritus seek out Yakumi. It's small, a little unpredictable and certainly lives up to its name, for Yakumi means 'spice' in Japanese - but beware - there is a minimum spend of $35 per person.
