Editorial

The large open-mouth entrance of Cafe Strand isn't as inviting as it could be, because your eyes are drawn to the wobbly outside tables on tiles. Far nicer tables are found inside: low sea foam coloured couches encase couples sharing iced coffee, while those eating serious food sit at wooden tables in surprisingly comfy chairs. The breakfast menu is broad enough, with a gourmet breakfast of eggs, Italian sausage, bacon, roasted mushrooms, baked tomato and toast. The sassy vegetarian option consists of an open English muffin topped with peppery rocket, vine ripened tomato and poached eggs, served alongside mushrooms cooked in the wood-fired oven and topped with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic.

In fact, Cafe Strand is so proud of its wood-fired oven, its flavour features in most dishes. You'll discover it has roasted the capsicum appearing in the foccacia, crisped the gourmet pizza and calzone, and baked the bread that forms the base of the popular bruschetta and pane. The large beverage list offers local and imported beers, wines, and even cocktails. Recently awarded Cafe of the Year by the Restaurant and Catering Association, the award helps it to stand-out from the same-same bistro brigade on Jetty Road.
