Editorial
Food and memory are so inextricably linked that sometimes a certain taste can conjure a memory so powerfully it acts like a time machine. In the cosy confines of Capriccio Restaurant, it is the atmosphere, not the menu, that will take you back in time. Seventies-style architecture is evident at every turn in this classic family restaurant: the plush, pink carpet, the exposed dark brick walls, the dark wood panelling and the wide archways. The decor is quirky, yet elegant - you will find a display of musical instruments in one corner and an Asian elephant wall hanging in another.
Catering to a combination of regulars and tourists, owners Francesco and Esterina Scuteri offer a classic Italian dining experience. The menu is extensive. To start, try the antipasto di mare: a mixed platter of marinated baby octopus, calamari, prawns and scallops. For mains, go for the orecchiette alla foresta: shell shaped pasta cooked al dente and served with mushrooms, bacon, tomato, white wine, cream and fresh herbs and spices. An assortment of grilled beef, veal and seafood dishes are also tempting. For dessert, choose the traditional Italian cassata or the homemade chocolate mousse. With 26 years in the same location, Capriccio has a history, and somehow it feels like your own.
