Esplanade Hotel

Since 1958 the Esplanade Hotel has been soothing sunburn and wetting the dry mouths of beach goers. An institution and rightly so.

Editorial

The Esplanade Hotel is the perfect bar/bistro for a serene evening meal. Enjoy yourself while enjoying a long glass of Coopers ale and watching the orange sun plunge into an inviting horizon. The staff are extremely friendly and experienced, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing, thanks to the kids area which easily subdues tots with various forms of electronic fascination.

There is a large dining area with a full a-la-carte menu available, but you’d have to be pretty hungry. Meals here are big, hot, and arrive quick – just the way they should be. The double-decker toasted BLT ($11) is truly a sight to behold, and finishing it is an achievement in itself.

The sports bar area is adorned with lovely local prints and, true to its name, shows live cable sport at all hours of the day. It also doubles as a live music area, and bands play Friday nights and Sundays. It has a very-Australian selection of beers on tap (not such a bad thing) but the real perk of the Esplanade Hotel is the dangerously affordable drink and meal deals that pop up every month.

There’s no doubt that the Esplanade is a great family destination and a gorgeous hotel that is worth a visit after a day down at Kingston Park.
