Rob Roy Hotel
Editorial
Although naming a hotel in the City of Churches after a Scottish outlaw and folk hero may be a little disconcerting, the Rob Roy Hotel is nothing if not a relaxing night out. You may not overhear tales of highway men robbing from the rich, but you will hear the occasional cover song or shout of glee from Bogan Bingo.
Of course, being of Scottish heritage (the name, anyway) the Rob Roy has a cracking selection of single malt whiskeys behind the bar. Choose from 'three fingers of your second-cheapest' or 'keys to the Jaguar' options of the most impressive range of Scotch you'll probably see this side of the equator. Add to this a sizable selection of wines and some top-shelf liqueurs, cognacs and digestifs, and you have a liquor cabinet to make Hugh Hefner swoon. The amount of tap beers available are just the icing on the cake.
The decor and design is what you'd expect in your local corner pub - a wooden bar top is complimented by simple wooden and soft furnishings, with the odd barstool here and there. The U-shaped main bar makes for a nice thoroughfare, with small to large groups of 30- and 40-somethings tucking into the available space quite comfortably.
