Pulp Lounge Bar
Editorial
Housed within the Rockford Hotel, Pulp Lounge Bar is an escape from the CBD's madding crowds. Clean, neat and modern, it's a no-frills sort of hotel bar; a mix of burgundy couches, pine coffee tables, a chrome-topped bar and glass installations. The cocktail menu takes in all the old-school classics and the bar staff can whip you up a Long Island, Singapore Sling or a Pina Colada at a moment's notice. The prices are reasonable and while the drinks aren't up to the same standard as a dedicated cocktail bar, they do the job - especially the Spiked Masala Tea. If you're simply killing time (or escaping that conference you're supposed to be attending) you can always opt for an imported beer or a glass of red. Or you could just throw caution to the wind, prop yourself up at the bar and start knocking back boilermakers.
Hotel lobby bars offer a unique drinking experience and are a world away from your typical pub, bar or club experience. While Pulp Lounge Bar isn't a standout, it's comfortable, relaxed and they do a mean Singapore Sling. Sometimes that's all you really need.
