Hotel Richmond
Editorial
Hotel Richmond is a seriously upmarket affair. Housed in a renovated 1920's Art Deco building, the venue incorporates a four-star hotel, restaurant, function room and bar. Still, it's the drinks and the bar we're here to talk about, so let's concentrate on that. The first thing that strikes you about the hotel's cocktail lounge is the ample use of space. There's ample distance between couches and tables, and if you were in the business of passing fat manilla envelopes to people, this would be an ideal spot to do it.
Alternatively, you could prop yourself up on the long, marble bar and start working your way through the drink selection. Whether you're looking for exotic vodkas, big-money scotch, flashy wines or just elaborate cocktails, the Richmond has you covered. The service is first-class and the bartenders really know their stuff. All this boozing is helped along by subdued lighting and a real Casablanca-like atmosphere.
Best of all, you can book yourself a hotel room right upstairs. Nothing says convenience like celebrating in a cocktail lounge and then simply taking a lift upstairs to a plush hotel room. Oh, and if you have a bad head the following day, Hotel Richmond also do a wonderful breakfast. For those with money to burn, Hotel Richmond comes highly recommended.
