We dined at Hotaru on Saturday night over Easter weekend 2010. It was my daughter's 15th birthday. In spite of my late booking (3 hours earlier) we were given a great table in the sunken section at the rear of the restaurant. We decided on 4 x the set menu and a bottle of Barossa Shiraz, and it was a wonderful meal. Absolutely wonderful fresh flavours and great service. We loved every bite and I will definitely recommend this restaurant to others. It stands head and shoulders above a recent so-called Japanese 'experience' we had on Unley Road. Try Hotaru's with confidence -although the restaurant front isn't too inviting- this is not an indicator of quality. What's more the staff made a fuss of my daughter for her birthday, bringing out a lit sparkler etc without us asking. Good job guys! Thank you.

I have been to Hotaru many times now and it has not failed me once. Whether it was for an informal dinner, with a good friend, foreign visitors or a whole group of colleagues for lunch, the service is impeccable and personal. The food is absolutely excellent! I have lived in Japan and friends who have agree with me that this brings back memories of superb food. The quality couldn't get higher and is worth every cent you pay. I believe this is the best Japanese restaurant by far in Adelaide!
