Step up to the 14-metre long Calcutta bar and order from the exquisite wine list, which, as you'd expect, is dripping with the best that South Australia has to offer. They sure do wine well in this part of the world, and First is not afraid to show case the very best. The wine list is ever-evolving, and if you're visiting from interstate, you'd be a fool to choose anything but the local drop. For something different, try the Mitolo 'The Jester' Rose (McLaren Vale SA), a nice light rose.
On Friday nights the clientele is mostly high-end professionals taking their weekly dip into cocktail culture. This is a great place to order a classic Negroni or Cosmo to take the edge off a rough week.
For the puckish, small nibblies are offer until 9pm. Try the oysters chargrilled and drizzled with fresh lime, or the Hervey Bay scallops with coconut chilli jam - just divine.
