Adelaide may not be known in this part of the world as a thriving cultural hub, but one thing we do have is one helluva live music and entertainment scene. In fact, more and more local bands are cutting their teeth on national stages, some even getting as far as the US and beyond. In some ways, the Electric Light Hotel and Producers Bar is owed a debt of thanks for playing its part in all this. With its sights firmly fixed on live music and top DJ talent, you're usually guaranteed a night of rock'n'roll, dirty funk or electro house under this multi-faceted roof.
Divided among the many rooms of the Electric Light Hotel, you'll find a number of bars, entertainment options and kitchens. The main bar is more of a stand-up setting, with bar stools and long tables for those who wish to grab a jug with their mates and shoot the breeze. The Producers bar is a more stylised affair, with dark tones and red highlights, making it more atmospheric and conducive to the occasional 'hook-up'. And if you're feeling in the mood for something a little plusher, the cocktail bar at the Electric Light hotel goes Baroque, with fine furniture and flocked wallpaper - it's so money, it hurts.
And when it comes to live music, DJs and even comedy and theatre, well, this hotel has everything sorted. Most nights you'll find some form of live entertainment, if not a full-blown party. Think: long weekend parties, model searches, touring DJs or simply just drink specials - any excuse for a party, really.
