Crown & Anchor Hotel
Editorial
There's all the good stuff with lots of wood panelling, easy-to-reach bars and a well-positioned stage. The atmosphere is laid back enough you can feel comfortable in jeans, but fancy enough to feel like you've walked further than the corner store.
This pub's calling card is the healthy roster of bands from all corners of the state, as well as around the country. Intentionally focusing on alternate, original outfits, the sounds range from rock, goth, punk and psychobillly to pretty much everything in between. Ease into the week with an acoustic tune on a Monday night. Tuesdays and Thursdays are an excuse to check out free live music. Friday and Saturday nights are the big ones with at least three bands taking to the stage each night.
DJs make an appearance as well, with residents Tr!p and Alice working the decks in between the live sounds. The venue also looks after those in hospitality, with Tuesday nights set aside to cater for those on the wrong side of the bar the rest of the week.
