Y Bar & Bistro
Editorial
You might not know it, but the Diana Plaza Hotel in bustling Woollongabba has a delicious dining oasis tucked away inside. Y Bar and Restaurant used to go by the moniker of Aventine's but a revamp of the decor and menu has earned this casual restaurant a new name. With a Tuscan-inspired ambience, Y Restaurant and Bar is spread over a comfortable split level bar and dining area. The true jewel in this crown, however, is the stunning alfresco area that lies through the doors. A lush water feature flows past a decked boardwalk, making it the perfect spot for afternoon drinks and nibbles from the bar menu.
The menu at Y changes a few times a year, but each new menu boasts a collection of fresh, seasonal dishes with an Australian and international influence. The calamari and chorizo salad with cucumber and onion dressing strikes an appetising balance between the flavours of the sea and the spicy kick from the sausage. Scallops with cauliflower puree and citrus salad are another crowd-pleaser. Roast salmon on fennel puree with baby spinach and orange vinaigrette entices as a main, but carnivores will be tempted by the beefy selection from the grill. A mouth-watering array of cakes are on offer for dessert or simply finish with a coffee. On a Friday afternoon, Y Restaurant and Bar puts on live tunes, so relax and kick back by the water feature with a cocktail as you welcome the weekend. And Y not?
