Sling Lounge
Editorial
The locals here are a nice eclectic mix of urban professionals and slick arty types, and yet without the pretentious vibe you'd get in a bar like this in Melbourne or Sydney. What unites this lot is their love of cutting-edge cocktails. At the Sling they like to call it 'Molecular Mixology' - apparently the art of changing a drink's structure on a molecular level to create new flavours. I'm still not clear on how this is different from the usual cocktail crafting, but after some friendly advice from the bartender and a few drinks, I didn't really care. The list itself is well organised, but if you get confused, try the personable approach and get suggestions from the experts. I had the Scattered Dust - absinthe imbued with a mix of feijoa 42 Below, cloudy apple juice, sugar syrup, and egg white torched until brulee. A delicious concoction that reflected the depth of imagination and level of dedication that the Sling puts into its 'tails.
If you're a serious cocktailer, drop by on the first Tuesday of every month for the Sling Degustation Menu with five innovative cocktails and five matched tapas items, and of course five palate cleansers between courses. Make sure you book ahead for this one though.

I had a fabulous night at Sling! They serve the yummiest drinks I have ever tasted and the mood there was really chill. I would certainly recommend Sling to any person wanting a delicious drink and a great night out :)

If you are going to charge $16-$18 for cocktails then the decor and service needs to be commensurate with the prices. Instead, staff are pre-occupied with themselves and decor is dingy and dirty! Definately keep walking past!

I've never felt so ripped off. Each tapas dish is $15 or for $74 you can get 6. The dish sizes were a joke. I've been to Spain many times so I'm familiar with tapas but this was nothing more than a waste of money shared amongst friends. $15 per plate. Scallops dish consisted of 4 scallops on a piece of potato with and a 1cm flake of ham on top. Or for $15 you could have 2 spring rolls cut in half or 3 mini triangles of cheese (2cm in size) etc. All very tasty but we couldn't believe the sizes especially after the waitress told us it would be sufficient for us. They have a very extensive cocktail menu. The staff were friendly but I wouldn't call them attentive. The front bar looked trendy and much more welcoming than the back which was essentially a leaking tent with benches - don't go when it rains! Spend your money wisely and go somewhere else.

Sling is incredible, the cocktail menu is practically a novel and the decor is astounding. If I could afford to go every weekend I certainly would. Probably not one for the stick-in-the-mud business types, definitely more trendy.
