Lock 'n' Load
Editorial
Lock ‘n’ Load is entering a new era with the establishment of a new phenomenon in the culinary and entertainment world. Enter the gastro-pub, originally started in London in the early ‘90s, gastro-pubs offer the relaxing and casual atmosphere of a pub, but serve restaurant quality food. Owner and manager Lachlan Bird has created a lovely setting in which to enjoy a good cup of coffee, a few drinks or a stylish three-course meal.
Situated smack bang in the middle of the West End’s bustling restaurant district, the bar overlooks the street and is a popular place to sit and enjoy a few lagers (or cocktails) and crowd watch. The central dining room is stylishly furnished with polished wood floors and is the only heritage-listed venue in the area. The beer garden, located at the back of the property, is dotted with white frangipani trees and palms, an ideal setting for a function or to enjoy the late night entertainment. The food on offer is mouth-watering with a wide selection to choose from. Try the crisp-skinned ocean trout with pumpkin, fetta and and chilli on salsa verde. Or perhaps, for a truly dressed up pub meal, the eye fillet with potato fondant, balsamic onions, crisp pancetta and artichoke salad.

Thank god it has changed substantially over the last 1.5years (I remember having some service problems myself back in 2009) - the service may appear laid back, but in reality is very friendly and efficient nowadays.
