Two Small Rooms

places|qld|toowong|two%20small%20rooms
2003 Two Small Rooms was sold to long serving restaurant manager Peter Willumsen and Wife Pia. The restaurant went through a very much needed face lift and the premises became licensed. The addition of a very select wine list and a carefully stocked bar has made it even more exciting to dine here.

Editorial

A long-standing favourite on Milton Road, housed in a rustic timber-slat cottage, Two Small Rooms remains one of Brisbane most fondly recognised fine diners. It's not a flashy place by any stretch, the two (yes) rooms are humbly furnished with mustard coloured walls and neatly dressed tables. There's also a quaint little private room and a small courtyard.
Chefs have come and gone over the last 16 years, but Two Small Rooms has always delivered impressively reliable food. Matthew Whitton continues the tradition of sophisticated, European influenced fare with excellent flavours and attention to detail. The mud crab omelette has been on the menu for years and judging by its popularity it's not going anywhere in a hurry. Elsewhere the fried King George whiting fillets on warm asparagus and oyster mushroom salad and the puff pastry baked snail cream soup with garlic and fresh herbs make fine entrees that are both comforting and texturally intriguing. For mains, the bouillabaisse is a top contender, as is the barbecued duck with steamed pork dumplings, choi sum, chilli jam and spiced orange sauce. A very fine wine list includes an extensive range of European drops and an impressive selection of local wines.
