After a $34.7 million upgrade, Queensland Performing Arts Centre sits right in the middle of it all, flexing its rather large cultural muscle.
QPAC has hosted over 20000 performances in its four venues, including hit shows such Billy Elliott and Fame and music as diverse as The Beach Boys with QLD Symphony Orchestra - what the Wilson brothers made of the beach, we'll never know - Elvis Costello, Cyndi Lauper, Crowded House, Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham and Birds of Tokyo.
There is a real vibe at QPAC as Brisvegan's of all ages congregate around the bar and eat in the restaurants downstairs or drink in the marble bars upstairs before heading to the shows.
As Queensland is 'sunny one day, perfect the next' QPAC also makes use of the great outdoors. Melbourne Street Green, a stunning outdoor setting with the city forming an urban backdrop, has free events on the weekends outside featuring musical acts, DJs and food.
