Southbank gives families the best bang for your buck this New Years Eve.

Editorial

Clem Jones Promenade is the place to be when the clock strikes 12 to view Brisbane's New Years Fireworks extravaganza. This year's incredible laser and pyrotechnic display has been carefully choreographed to a soundtrack of big party anthems; giving crowds a full sensory explosion to say hello to 2011.

The first big bang, however, goes off at 8.30pm. We recommend you get in early to save yourself some prime parkland real-estate to lay out a rug or pop open a deck chair. Southbank has again provided a shed load of free entertainment to keep you entertained until the main event. One of the best activities are the free family movies showing in the Cultural Forecourt from 4pm to 11pm.

Another big attraction in 2010's celebrations is the New Year's Eve Concert at Southbank's Suncorp Piazza. Headlining are Aussie indie rockers and Aria award winners British India, supported by The Delta Riggs and Fuzz Phantoms. Running from 7pm to 11.30pm (finishing just in time for the fireworks), tickets are a very reasonable $20 (+bf).

Happy New Year Brisbane!
