With a full annual program of expos, talk fests and big ticket concerts this entertainment and cultural hub has well and truly earned it's ranking among the top three convention centres world-wide. A new five level extension due for completion in 2011 and offering a 52% increase in convention space, is sure to boost this centres versatility even further.
Expos on the BCEC calendar include popular Travel Xpo and the excellent ABC Gardening Australia Expo. Music devotees should look out for concerts from Italian crooner, Patrizio Buanne and iconic rock band, Deep Purple. Sports fans are not forgotten at the centre with bouts from the Northern Brisbane Rollers, two all girl roller skate teams going head to head around the oval track, in the offing along with regular Netball matches between the Queensland Firebirds and West Coast Fever.
A visit to this huge complex should include a stop over at Merivales Cafe Bar and Restaurant, located in the centre's main foyer and catering to both formal and casual dinning.
