Salt

Salt is smart and casual with some good options for sharing meals.

Editorial

Salt has a lot going for it: a prime position in the restaurant quarter of one of Brisbane's cutest villages, a sunny aspect and sophisticated appeal. The locals of Rosalie, a savvy bunch of upwardly mobile foodies, jealously guard their right to this modern Australian restaurant. Seldom are the white leather couches and trendy black tables wanting for people to sit at them. Seldom will you pass without seeing a person relaxing with a good quality coffee against a backdrop of striking paintings, watching the world go by.

To back up the impressive visual appeal of Salt, the menu is simple and clever. Using a combination of quality produce and skill in the kitchen, dishes such as lamb, thyme and pine nut potato gnocchi made with tender fillet of lamb, fresh thyme and toasted pine nuts are the norm. Or perhaps the barramundi and king prawn green curry would suit, served on a bed of steamed snow peas, kaffir lime infused jasmine rice, and a lemongrass and green curry coconut reduction. The food oozes flavour and is strikingly displayed. Choose from king island rib fillet, Atlantic salmon, or gourmet pizza. The menu is changed regularly and the service is friendly and on tempo.
