The Little Larder
Editorial
The Little Larder is indeed a good reflection of the great utilisation of space and creativity that smaller venues have to offer. This top cafe-style eatery was a convenience store in its past but has since been revamped and revitalised as the cafe it is today. It can seat up to 40 people at its busiest and also boasts a terrific open front facade that integrates the exterior with its interior quite well.
On the menu is an assortment of great breakfast and lunchtime meals that mesh Italian with Australian cuisine. There are two menus: a breakfast menu available all day for the late starters among us, and a lunch menu which kicks in when the sun is at its peak. There are some more traditional breakfast items guaranteed to perk you up, such as thick French toast or pancakes with grilled banana, maple syrup, berry compote, yoghurt and a delicious passionfruit citrus cream. Or, for those whose breakfast sweet-tooth is a bit more placid, try the crispy polenta served with poached, free-range eggs, avocado and spinach with dill mayonnaise. For lunch, tuck into the grilled baby octopus served with a fresh Larder green salad, zucchini fritters with a garden salad or the home-made pies which are cooked fresh on the premises.
