Rue De Paris Coffee Boutique

Meaning 'Paris Street', this mostly outdoor cafe (though there is a beautiful art deco interior) serves some of the best espresso in Brisbane. The Euro-influenced menu offers plenty of choice.

Editorial

Rue de Paris (meaning Paris Road) is exactly that, a sidewalk-style cafe straight out of the heart of Paris. From its gorgeous Parisian tables and chequered wicker chairs, to the candlelit atmosphere and espresso coffee, it is French to a tee. Overlooking the bustling cosmopolitan atmosphere of Park Road in Milton, here is a place to relax and enjoy a leisurely meal while people-watching and imagining you are thousands of kilometres away. It is even complete with its own Eiffel Tower, though admittedly a slightly smaller version.

The food is cosmopolitan with a variety of European dishes and the occasional dish with Asian or Cajun influence. For an entree, choose from scrumptious calamari and delicious salads. For a main, try the Atlantic salmon (a succulent fillet pan-seared and served on grilled vegetables and finished with a lemon beurre blanc), or for something a little different try the smoked chicken pasta (smoked chicken with pine nuts, pesto, baby spinach and a cream sauce with your choice of pasta). Desserts are on display at the main bar and there is always a more than generous selection from which to choose. Try the rich chocolate mud cake, or perhaps the Baci Pyramid with layers of white and dark chocolate.

We heard wonderful things about rue de paris and we vey excited to try their menu. I have to say the staff were wonderful. Unfortunately the food was terrible. One of our party ordered the "fish of the day" which was tried by all 6 of us and was certainly off. While the waitstaff did apologise, it meant that she was left without a meal while the remainder of us ate. The other meals were adequate but far from good . The Thai beef salad consisted of about 4 pieces of beef and was mainly lettuce without dressing. The veal was overcooked and unappealing. The soup was salty and cold. This is the first review I have ever posted but the food was such a disappointment and so overpriced I don't want anyone else to waste their time and money.
