Lure Lounge
Editorial
The Coro Hotel is obviously doing something right. With an acclaimed restaurant (awarded Queensland's Best Seafood Restaurant three times), gaming room, wine cellar, patio and lounge, it's a multi-faceted venue with a casual atmosphere and strong local following. The lounge boasts a modern, distinctly Brisbane fit-out. It's all minimalist white surfaces, elaborate lighting and a mix of pouffes and ottomans. Functional rather than ground breaking, the basic set-up will be familiar to anyone who has visited other refurbished hotels in the inner city. That said, they do offer an elevated upper lounge area and there are plenty of little nooks and crannies if you don't feel like propping up the bar.
Like the decor, the drink selection embraces the tried and true. There's a good selection of cocktails and flair bartending, but it's nothing to write home about. The cocktails are also heavily swayed towards the 'tropical' end of the spectrum. Naturally, there's a full accompaniment of beers on hand and you'll find a mix of local favourites alongside more obscure, imported options. Basically, Lure Lounge does the local cocktail bar role well, but it's not going to change your life.
