Boats Restaurant
Editorial
Boats has recently been taken over by the very experienced team running the reputable Oliver's on the Esplanade in Manly. This venue, with a perfect view of the harbour, has changed hands more than most but its new look combined with the experience of the Oliver's team should see that put to an end. Boats' decor is modern, stylish and befitting of its name, with bright whites contrasting against deep blues and polished wood floorboards, reminiscent of crisp white sails, timber decking and the wide ocean. It is bright, fresh and inviting.
The menu is extensive with page-long sections entitled breads and starters, to share, something light, pastas and risottos, mains, and desserts; hence the decision making process can take some time. It is a fun and casual menu at times, but it has a serious side to it. Options such as grilled snapper on ruby grapefruit, shaved fennel, potato rosti with lemon dressing step it up a notch. Whereas the maple pumpkin and blue cheese pizza, or the coconut tempura prawns with mango mayo, are meant to be shared tapas style among a group of friends on a lazy afternoon.
