As anyone who can pronounce the words, “haute” and couture” will tell you, the house of Versace is known for its flash. What they may fail to mention, however, is the structure, style and strict observance to form effected by the designers. Sure, a Versace garment might look a little gaudy. But it's gaudiness of the best, most orderly and intentional kind.

And so it is throughout the Palazzo Versace where the chic of the bordello is woven into a cloth of great elegance. What may seem at first glance accidentally tacky reveals itself, within a greater context, to be calculated beauty.

Yes, the banquettes are outrageous. The colours are riotous and the drinks decadent. But the chaos and excess makes so much sense inside this hotel and bar that a drinker is actually soothed in their midst.

Much more important than the brand, which is displayed and fiercely protected on glass ware (don't even try “souveniring” a tumbler; you can buy one, just ask) is the way that the brand is served.

It's a big claim, but we're going to make it anyhow: this is the best bar service in the nation. Gianni would be proud.

This is a great place to be in, <a href="http://www.weekendnotes.com/marina-mirage/">Marina Mirage</a>is wonderful and has the best quality clothes, food and drinks. Wonderful view too.
