Breakers has some of the best views you'll find on the Gold Coast. Located within the Sheraton Mirage, the cocktail lounge is a couple of hundred metres from the ocean and offers panoramic views of the coastline - it's basically palm trees and ocean as far as the eye can see. And you can enjoy all this in air-conditioned comfort while nursing a cocktail. The decor, meanwhile, seems to have been heavily inspired by US soap operas and definitely has a touch of The Bold and the Beautiful about it. Naturally, this is reinforced by wealthy tourists swanning about in their best yacht-rock chic.
The drinks menu is as expansive as you would expect and the bar staff are more than happy to help you with your selection. The Scotch, wine and champagne selection can accommodate the biggest expense accounts and the cocktail list is as long and detailed as you would like. Light meals are also available on the menu and if you have time to spare they offer High Tea. Whether you're there for cocktails or a light meal, Breakers has a relaxed atmosphere with a nod to 1980's glamour. Sure, drinks might cost a little more than you'll find elsewhere, but the views, incidental touches and helpful bar staff more than make up for it. Whether you're a Gold Coast local or just visiting, Breakers is a quintessential haunt and a cocktail lounge well worth checking out.
