Mecca Bah
Editorial
Mecca Bah, in Fortitude Valley, is one of Brisbane's popular alfresco dining experiences. Sure, there are other bars about which offer a suitable outdoor sojourn, but the sheer expanse at Mecca - named for the pilgrimage those take to enjoy its fine wines and exotic foods - makes it ideal, even when it does get a little packed. Large groups of 30-somethings and older settle in for extended dining sessions, with many delving deep into the bar's moderately priced wine list and mezze plates.
While the decor won't be setting any aesthetic standards in the near future, the ambiance created is one of casual comfort. Soft, earthy tones are highlighted with simple wooden furniture, creating a setting of simple elegance. Although the theme of the bar is Middle Eastern fusion, thankfully your nostrils won't be assailed with incense or shisha pipes when you walk through the door - there is such a thing as taking things too far.
Wines at Mecca are sourced from many of Australia's finest grape-growing country, being the Margaret River, Yarra Valley, Barossa regions and beyond, plus a few select drops from New Zealand, with most bottles affordably under $50. Mezze plates are also a favourite to share between large groups; try the spicy Turkish kofte or the Lebanese sausages for a taste bud sensation.

Relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, friendly & efficient service and exceptional value for money. Consistently brilliant dining experience. Go early as they don't take bookings and there's always a line-up later on as it is really popular and tends to fill up any given night of the week. No rush over the Lunch period.
