Clean and cool, tranquil as rain, Monsoon is an atmospheric place to immerse yourself in the pleasures of communal dining. Here you're surrounded by soothing, earthy colours, walls studded with river stones, tropical plants and Buddha statues composed in prayer. Long, dark timber tables fill the main dining area, while a raised platform on one side of the room supports a few smaller tables for diners after a more intimate retreat. Perhaps Monsoon's most attractive feature is the attached wine room housing around 350 local and imported bottles. You can purchase wine from the wine room (at prices that compare favourably with the local bottle shop), but you're also welcome to bring that favourite drop from home.

The menu is a culinary map across Asia, with Thailand and Vietnam providing the prominent influences. Start with tom yum soup featuring sweet river prawns and coral mushrooms, or steamed pork belly, green papaya and crisp noodle salad. More substantial meals include camphor-scented chicken breast with smoky banana leaves and crisp Aylesbury duck served with snake beans and shiitake stir-fry. Seafood features heavily on the menu with dishes like Moreton Bay bugs and pink-eye potatoes in Thai-style red curry.

We had my sisters hens there on Saturday night and I just wanted to thank you and the staff there for a fantastic night. The food was amazing as usual and the service was great, thanks to the lovely lady with the short blonde curly hair, she was really fantastic. Thanks again for making the night a memorable occasion.

I am impressed and amazed after my visit to Bravo Bar.b.que in the Valley and have no I idea how I didn't know such a great place existed! Fantastic steaks, and service to match.
