The Glen Hotel
Editorial
The Glen. The name itself conjures thoughts of lush pastures, rolling hills and maidens bearing buckets of milk over their shoulders. Well, the reality may not be so romantic, but The Glen Hotel is certainly as relaxing as those sentiments. Known for cheap, wood-fired pizzas, regular entertainment and a family friendly atmosphere, this hotel is your standard issue ??all things to all Men/Women' type of affair. Although many of these kind of venues tend to stretch themselves too far, the Glen stays on the good side of sanity.
The Deck bar is where all the action happens at the Glen. Park yourself in banquette seating, at the bar or outside in the beer (well, wooden decking) garden, and choose from the large beer and wine list. Most nights you'll be able to catch a DJ or two, spinning top 40 and retro hits from their iPod or CDDJ. On weekends its best to get in early to avoid the crush and to score a place to sit. That is if you intend on sitting; otherwise just rock up with your dancing shoes and hit the dancefloor.
If you get peckish for more than just a counter meal, you can slip out to the Glen Restaurant. With its relaxing views of the lush greenery outside, it's almost a world away from the revellers mere metres away. Almost.
