With a theme that takes its inspiration from the cowboys of Texas, sSs BBQ Barn Steakhouse is one of the most colourful restaurants in town. This family owned business was started in Tamworth 15 years ago by Tom and Marlene Manvell and has gone from strength to strength with a roll call of stores opening up from Brisbane to Coffs Harbour and beyond. Some say the secret to the success of sSs is in the specially prepared barbecue glaze that marinates the generous portions of prime Aussie beef, adding a zesty finish to the fine cuts on the menu.

The sSs experience might be inspired by Texas but this is still an Aussie steakhouse and wherever there is an Aussie there is bound to be beer. sSs is no exception where they even brew their own boutique blend which is available on tap up at the bar. Order your schooner to go with the popular 200 gram rump and rib combo that promises the best of both worlds and cooked to melt in your mouth. If your beer gives you some Dutch courage and you're feeling like a challenge then you ought to try the monster beef shank which weighs in at a whopping 2.5 kilograms. If you can work your way through this beast with an entree and dessert on either side, the team at sSs will throw in your dessert for free and admit you to the Big Shank Hall of Fame. We were there about one month ago and there was 4 of us two of us had 2 mains of ribs each not because they were not big but because they were so good. We r really big fans of ribs and have eaten them all over Austrlia. We are from Tweed Heads and you dont have one down here. so over Xmas my daughter and her boyfriend that came with us in the first expierence r on holidays from the Army and we are coming to stay at the Mantra write on your door step just to have dinner there. We are so excited and we will see you then keep up the best steak and ribs we have encounted.Yum Yum see u then
