Despite its name, there's no rushing here. Just laid-back cocktails and a relaxing atmosphere.

Editorial

Their website reads, "Don't Rush, Relax" but their position in Post Office Square, the take-away coffee cart outside and the throngs of thirsty, suited patrons, suggest more of the former at Rush Lounge. Rush courts corporate clients; they close on weekends and open early every morning for coffee or breakfast, and they cater for corporate functions either in their flame-toned fit-out or in your office. The idea seems to be that if they're hard at work, you don't have to be.

In keeping with corporate culture, the food doesn't break moulds but will definitely revive a tired brain and soak up some of the cocktail list. The menu includes a full range of breakfast options until 10:30am, then from 11am a choice of quick bites, tapas or mains, all with contemporary Australian-Asian flair. The tapas, like prawn spring rolls with Asian-style dipping sauce, are well worth their $11.90, but mains (around $18-$29) promise more than they deliver.

The wine selection is small, with South Australian house wines for pocket change; the most expensive wines are around $11. The two-part cocktail list has classics and alternatives, the latter being largely fruit-infused and a little sweet, but still palatable. Rush Hour (their happy hour) is daily from 5-7pm, and 8pm on Fridays, which is perfect if you're in the mood for a communal wind-down at the long tables outside.
