Roma Street Parklands, City
Editorial
The Roma Street Parkland is the world's largest subtropical garden in any city centre. It boasts 16 hectares of lawns and more than 1800 species of plants. That's impressive! And to think that once it was an industrial rail yard! Ironically however, it remains easy to get there via train thanks to the nearby Roma Street station. Opened in 2001, you can enjoy the Parklands' waterfalls, amphitheatre, large lake and Australia's largest collection of outdoor art in the Spectacle Garden. While there you can also take a forest walk, have a picnic, buy snacks, watch the birds or take a free guided tour. There's even a guided tour for parents with kids!

Roma Street Parkland is a garden-lover's paradise with distinct precincts showing off diversity of plants, from arid climate succulents to rain-forest ferns, coastal wetland species and a spectacular, ever-changing display of annuals in the aptly named Spectacle Garden. http://www.australiavoyage.net
