With its open-air balconies, international kitchens and silver cheetah statues, Jo Jo's is a Brisbane institution.

Editorial

Established in 1980, Jo Jo's has become one of Brisbane's favourite meeting places. Located above the iconic Queens Street Mall and featuring large, open-air balconies, it's well equipped to take advantage of the climate and provides a casual spot to catch up with friends in the city's shopping district. While the balconies are a crowd favourite, Jo Jo's is actually quite cavernous inside, and set out like an upmarket food court. There's a selection of mini kitchens and the culinary options incorporate Asian, Mediterranean and contemporary Australian food. In other words, it's ideal for larger groups with wildly divergent tastes in food. The decor, meanwhile, is a striking mix of white walls, marble and, ah, silver cheetah statues.

While the meals are reasonably priced and the servings are large, it's the various balconies and the accompanying views that keep people coming back. There's a full cocktail list available, a good selection of wines and plenty of imported beers. Whether you've just spent the day shopping or are looking for a place to meet friends, Jo Jo's is a Brisbane institution - one you should visit at least once.
