Irish Murphy's Brisbane
Editorial
The main bar is spacious and comfortable, with the usual Irish pub touches - faux street lamps, wooden panelling, beer barrels and cottage archways, with lots of bar stool action along the bar - a great place to enjoy the ambience, even if you come alone. But even if you do, you'll probably find it easy to meet the locals, because this is a diverse crowd of uni students mixed with office workers and older professionals, getting quite crowded in the later evening. If it gets all a bit too loud for conversation, you can head down to the downstairs gaming lounge, or upstairs to the mezzanine bar.
As you'd expect, the drinks are all about the Irish ales, including Kilkenny and Guinness at reasonable prices. Upstairs is the Gallery Restaurant offering you Irish favorites and classic Aussie pub food, like char-grilled steak for $14.50, and a view from the balcony. They're surprisingly progressive with a variety of gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, diabetic and vegetarian options.
Music includes jazz fusion and urban groove in the evenings, with live bands playing originals and covers, including genuine Irish music. And if you're wondering what to do come St Patrick's Day, this is the place to be; it goes off in a very big, very green way.

we arrived at Irish Murphys last year on Saint Patricks Day to have some drinks. we had our first drink in a plastic cup that cost around $4.50 very watered down to the point of no alcohol. We then went for our second drink and after waiting 45 minutes we were finally served. You can imagine our surprise after recieving our 3 plastic cups of watered down alcohol, when they aked for $30. $10 dollars a drink. When we questioned this we were told that they were out of change and had to round the price to the nearest round figure. Correct me if l am wrong, but wouldnt that be $5. We were even more shocked and dismayed when the next person came to the bar and ordered the same drink as us and only payed the $4:50. We figured that only Aussies were being charged the $10. Needless to say we walked out, and never returned. I would not go there on Paddys day, find somewhere else for your hip pockets sake

I was present at this years St Patricks Day what a party it was awesome and the place keeps getting better the music is great, staff both bar and security are not afraid to have fun. Even the manager's not a bad bloke. Foods great with a new Chef and the drinks prices arn't that bad.

Just look out for the rat that frequents Irish Murphys....it has made an appearance twice in my presence, first week of new yr and then start of march where the bouncer stood on him and kiled it... Hygiene dont make me laugh, the toilets stink and are a disgrace

I first walked into Irish Murphy's Brisbane a month and a half ago. I am now officially a regular. The bar staff are awesome and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The coolest thing about Murphy's is they remember you this barmaid was serving me drinks on my first night there. Due to my habit of alternating between Saturday nights and Friday nights from week to week this barmaid did not see me again for a month and a half. A month and a half later she remembers my drink. That's the kind of service you can expect from Irish Murphy's
