Embassy Hotel

The Embassy veers from sleek, contemporary pub to commercial nightclub, depending on which night you opt to drop in.

Editorial

Drop in on a weeknight and the Embassy is relaxed and unassuming. Renovated in recent years, it's a modern, inner-city pub with plenty of booth seating, a red and chocolate colour scheme and a large mural running alongside one wall. There's an extensive cocktail selection and good mix of local and imported beers.

Drop by the same venue on a Friday or Saturday night and things are decidedly more club like. A favourite haunt for office workers just getting into the rat race, the clientele is usually quite animated by 8pm. Beers are flowing, ties are getting loosened and most of the women have a Daiquiri in hand. The soundtrack to all this is provided by local DJs and a mix of pop hits and commercial house. Frankly, if you're the wrong side of 25 and not working an entry level gig, you may feel a little out of place.

If you wanted an awkward sporting metaphor to describe The Embassy, you could opt for the ever reliable "game of two halves". It's comfortable and relaxed during the week and a commercial club Mecca on weekends. Which of the venue's two sides you prefer is a personal choice.
